Andy has spent more than 20 years building, scaling, and securing the systems that underpin modern digital finance. As CTO of EDGE, he’s innovating creative solutions for a rapidly changing area of financial technology. He and the EDGE team are developing the foundation for the explosive growth of new markets.

Andy is passionate about building exceptional engineering teams and creating software that solves real-world financial problems. He got his start in the financial services sector when he joined the newly-public Chicago Mercantile Exchange and launched their Eurodollar options trading platform.

After moving to San Francisco to work with fellow innovators, he founded a specialized consulting firm to advise companies ranging from emerging startups to Fortune 100s. In the years since, Andy has served as technical co-founder or CTO of a host of fintech startups—including SoFi, LearnVest, True Link Financial, Sindeo, LionX, Gilded, and Kina Rewards—and as an advisor to many more. He is an active LP in two venture funds and has guided the allocation of millions of dollars in seed-stage funding. 

Andy is also the co-founder of WiGLE.net, the world’s largest open-source, crowd-sourced database of wireless network observations. The project has shaped his long-standing passions for digital security, privacy, and resilient distributed systems. 

When he’s not working or mentoring, you can find Andy mapping out the streets of San Francisco on his hilly runs, engineering elaborate cocktails and dinner parties with friends, or refurbishing his vintage Macintosh computers from the 1980s and ‘90s (home museum tickets coming soon).
